One more month and i will hold the degree of Post graduation... that also in management .... sounds nice in a country where not even 1% of entire population is holding degree above grads!!! But as it is said dat everything comes with a responsibility.... nd d case s same wid my bng graduate frm a renowned (Nation's best b school awarded by star news 2010) B school . Now I am a responsible member of a larger society, it is worth while to ponder over What the purpose of all these years of education has been , How can I use it to make a difference to these society.
Progress is based on dreams and it requires changes and change requires learning. And as I always say " Education is all about Learning to learn" . So education is the main instrument for progress for any nation.
Being responsible towards society means showing your fairness to the less fortunate, to create a future that prosperity can b proud of, and to fulfill the promise that freedom brought to me.. It is about raising one's confidence to think of a worthy dream and the ability to translate that dream to reality by high performance action. It is about a new open mind set to accept new ideas, evaluate them nd use them for progress. I must be highly grateful to my parents, teachers and nation for providing me with this instrument!!!!
But while going through my management education one thing which I learnt as a vital part fr d success of every venture is : "ENVIORNMENT".... and "HISTORICAL ANALYSIS" so lets give a look at the details of these 2 terms fr my responsibilty of bringing progress to the socitey...
The numbers say it all, when it comes to what we have yet to achieve. We are a nation of one billion people with just 28% living in urban areas; an average person earns Rs. 1498 pm; only 54% of people are literate ; the average life expectancy is 61 yrs; the country has an HDI of 127 out of 157 nations in the wrld; 318 mln ppl dnt have access to safe drinking water, 250 million ppl dnt have access to medical facility; 630 mln ppl dnt hv access to santion facilties; 51% childrens are undernourished; and half of our primary schools have 1 teacher for every 2 classes! i can go on and on with these statistics.
Let me complete the picture. Corruption is everywhere. development has slowed down; india has teh highest reservation percntage in d wrld nd has bcm d only country whr merit is of secondary importance. the chasm between haves and have- nots is increasing day by day.
so as a result educated engineers, scientist, docs, are deserting India in a hurry.
The main problem of these issues is that we have POLITICAL FREEDOM but no ECONOMICAL FREEDOM--- the freedom frm hunger, disease nd illiteracy. I believe achieving economic freedom is the responsiblity of this generation, MINE.....
To achieve this goal we must create a civilized society-- a society whr everybdy has equal oppurtunity to better his/her life, whr every child has food, shelter, health care and education; a society whr duties cms bfr rights; whr each generation sacrifices to make life better for the next generation.
Bringing about such change requires a new mind set.. C. K. Prahalad oce told 'bng a dvlpd country is jst a mindset'....
I have that mind set ready fr d change... fr d developed nation... fr equi nation bcs i knw d fcat dat " I am one of those fortunate who enjoyed the quality education in a country whr a child is entitled to only Rs. 600 p.a. for primary education...."
Are you ready wid d changed mind set ????
